If you want to submit your site to web directories to get listed there, here are some resources to look into…

SEOBook.com and SEOCompany.ca has a list of what they consider as the best link directories.

At the top of those lists are DMOZ and Yahoo! Directory. And many people do agree that these are good directories to get you site listed on. In fact, some domain name appraisers look to see if your domain name is listed in DMOZ and/or Yahoo! Directory. For example, take a look at sample appraisal report from DomainAppraisal.org. See how the appraisal indicates whether the domain is listed in those two directories or not.
