Add Google Adsense Ads to WordPress Theme

In this tutorial, we will add Google Adsense (Google ads) to a WordPress theme.

Our site starts off looking like this…

1. Let’s add 160×600 Wide Skyscraper ad to the right sidebar.  You need to have a Google Adsense account and then in there generate the Adsense code for this ad.  Copy the adsense code.   In the WordPress dashboard under Appearance -> Widgets, add a Text Widget to the Secondary Widget Area (which is the right sidebar) and paste in the Adsense code as shown.

And you should get the Adsense appearing in the yellow area shown below.

Note that this is a responsive theme, so make sure your browser is wide enough.  If too narrow, the sidebar drops below the page as designed.
